“In 2023 NGBA families submitted an application for appeal through their lawyers to the ‘Criminal Cases Review Commission’ (CCRC), saying the prosecution had relied on racist stereotypes about their children being in ‘gangs’.

In November 2025 the CCRC referred the convictions of three defendants to the Court of Appeal, saying ‘there is a real possibility the court of appeal will find fresh evidence materially undermines the prosecution case’.

With the Appeal coming soon, we need the community to come out and stand with us to challenge the way the police and prosecution treat our young people.”
